About the Firm

Pitts and Brittian, P.C., focuses its practice on providing legal services in the field of intellectual property matters including matters relating to patents, trademarks, unfair competition, copyrights and trade secrets. Our firm prides itself in providing quality legal services at reasonable rates. In this regard, by narrowly focusing our practice on intellectual property matters, our attorneys are able to concentrate on particular areas of the law which are relevant to the protection and defense of the intellectual property of our clients. At the same time we recognize the value of working closely with our clients’ general legal counsel to insure that legal services rendered by our firm are coordinated with other legal and business needs of our clients.

The origin of Pitts and Brittian, P.C., can be traced back to 1977 when Bob Pitts began a law practice after working for several years with a large Chicago based patent law firm. In 1984, Mr. Pitts partnered with Brad Brittian to form Pitts and Brittian. The firm is located in west Knoxville, a location that has been found to be convenient to a growing number of clients from the Oak Ridge Technology Corridor, the technology centers of west Knox County, and our individual clientele in general. In 1999, Melinda Doss and Jeff Cutler became partners of the firm. Currently, Pitts and Brittian has a nine attorney staff providing a full range of intellectual property services.

In 2004, Pitts and Brittian celebrated 20 years of providing quality legal services relating to intellectual property to clients not only in Tennessee, but across the country and throughout the world.
